ClimAlign was commissioned by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to conduct a comprehensive energy and resource efficiency assessment of Ecoclimat, a leading glass wool and glass veil manufacturer located in Angren, Uzbekistan. The objective of the assignment was to evaluate the company’s current energy and resource consumption practices, identify performance gaps, and propose actionable measures to enhance overall efficiency and sustainability.
The assignment was structured around three key tasks:
- Task A – Energy and Resource Audit of Existing Facilities:
Detailed analyses of production lines and utilities were performed to identify and quantify potential energy and resource savings. Technical and financial assessments were conducted to determine the feasibility and return on investment of proposed efficiency measures.
- Task B – Best Available Techniques (BAT) Audit:
The facilities were benchmarked against EU Best Available Techniques (BAT) Reference Documents (BREFs) for mineral wool production. The audit assessed the applicability of advanced technologies and process improvements aligned with international best practices.
- Task C – Roadmap Development and Capital Investment Appraisal:
A structured roadmap was developed, prioritizing short-, medium-, and long-term investments required to enhance production efficiency, environmental performance, and competitiveness. The roadmap included estimated investment costs, payback periods, and expected savings for each recommended measure.
A comprehensive framework was developed for energy and resource optimization, supporting decision-making for sustainable capital investments and alignment with international environmental and energy efficiency standards.
