The EU/IPA II Technical Assistance for Productive SMEs of Trakya Region project was successfully implemented to enhance the socio-economic development of the Trakya Region by improving the process and energy efficiency of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and promoting efficiency-oriented production across the manufacturing sector.

The project delivered a comprehensive technical assistance package, structured under three mutually reinforcing sub-components:

1. Establishment of the Productivity Platform:

A regional platform was developed and institutionalized to support SMEs in diagnosing productivity bottlenecks, identifying technological gaps, and promoting collaborative solutions. The platform served as a hub for data sharing, best practice exchange, and matchmaking between SMEs, experts, and technology providers — fostering innovation and competitiveness within Trakya’s industrial base.

2. Awareness Raising and Knowledge Enhancement:

A wide range of campaigns, seminars, and regional workshops were conducted to strengthen awareness among SMEs, chambers, and public stakeholders on the importance of process and energy efficiency. Over the course of implementation, hundreds of SMEs and institutional actors benefited from improved understanding of resource efficiency concepts, digitalization opportunities, and sustainable business practices.

3. Capacity Building on Process and Energy Efficiency:

Targeted technical assistance and tailored training modules were delivered to SMEs to enhance in-house capabilities for process optimization, energy management, and performance monitoring. Customized consultancy sessions translated technical recommendations into practical action plans, enabling measurable productivity gains and energy savings.
